Marta Barros was born in Porto, where she lived until she was 18. She moved to Lisbon to study Social Communication and worked in television as a program producer for 9 years.
TEX MB is a project born from the will to see life beyond the screens. Created in 2016, it also coincides with her 30th birthday. Since then, Marta has dedicated herself to making handycraft works for interior design using the macrame technique.
She believes that her pieces can be an alternative to traditional decoration, offering pieces with a unique and modern design, which also preserve and keep alive an ancient art.
Her greatest inspiration comes from the salt water of Torreira: Ria de Aveiro, which bathed her childhood; and also the sea, which brings her raw material for her work, such as the natural branches she uses to hang her tapestries.
To the Murtosa City Hall, as well as its entire team, Marta Barros expresses her gratitude for their commitment and support in making this exhibition happen.
The event will take place from August 17 to 24, 2022, at Torreira Municipal Gallery – Av. Hintze Ribeiro 32, 3870-323 Torreira – from 5pm to 10pm. The entrance is free and takes place in accordance with the DGS regulations.
